Our client is seeking a Senior AI Ethics and Safety Researcher to join their pioneering team at the forefront of artificial intelligence development. This role offers a hybrid work model, blending remote flexibility with collaborative in-office sessions. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our AI systems are developed and deployed responsibly, ethically, and safely. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic or industry background in AI ethics, machine learning safety, philosophy of technology, or related fields, with a demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous research and translate findings into practical guidelines. Your work will directly influence the design and governance of advanced AI technologies.

Responsibilities: Conduct cutting-edge research on AI ethics, bias detection and mitigation, fairness, accountability, and transparency in AI systems. Develop and refine methodologies for assessing and ensuring the safety and robustness of AI models, especially large language models and generative AI. Collaborate with AI researchers and engineers to integrate ethical considerations and safety protocols throughout the AI development lifecycle. Author and publish research papers, contribute to industry best practices, and present findings at conferences. Advise product teams and leadership on ethical risks and responsible AI deployment strategies. Develop educational materials and training programs on AI ethics and safety for internal stakeholders. Engage with external stakeholders, policymakers, and the broader AI community to foster dialogue on responsible AI. Stay at the forefront of advancements in AI technology and ethical frameworks.

Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent research experience in Computer Science (AI/ML focus), Philosophy, Law, Sociology, or a related field with a specialization in AI ethics or safety. 5+ years of experience in AI ethics, AI safety, responsible AI, or related research areas. Strong publication record in top-tier AI conferences or journals. Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, particularly deep learning and large language models. Familiarity with ethical frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and governance structures for AI. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and ethical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience working in interdisciplinary teams. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python is beneficial. This is a critical role for shaping the future of AI.
