Our client, a pioneering technology firm at the forefront of AI innovation, is seeking a highly accomplished Lead AI Ethics and Governance Specialist to be based in our **Boston, Massachusetts, US** office. This critical role will shape the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies, ensuring alignment with ethical principles, regulatory frameworks, and societal values. You will lead the charge in establishing robust governance structures, developing policies, and fostering a culture of ethical AI development across the organization. This position demands a unique blend of technical understanding, ethical reasoning, legal acumen, and strategic leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics frameworks, policies, and guidelines for the design, development, and deployment of AI systems. Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new AI projects and existing systems. Advise product development teams on ethical considerations, bias mitigation, fairness, transparency, and accountability in AI. Stay abreast of evolving AI regulations, industry standards, and best practices in AI governance globally. Design and deliver training programs on AI ethics and responsible AI practices to stakeholders across the organization. Collaborate with legal, compliance, and engineering teams to ensure AI systems meet regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Establish mechanisms for monitoring and auditing AI systems for ethical compliance and performance. Engage with external stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, and industry groups, on AI ethics and governance issues. Develop communication strategies to articulate the company's commitment to responsible AI. Lead cross-functional working groups focused on addressing specific AI ethics challenges. Contribute to the strategic vision for the ethical and responsible advancement of AI within the company. Champion a proactive and preventative approach to AI ethics and governance. Manage the implementation of AI governance tools and processes. Develop reporting structures for AI ethical compliance. Serve as a subject matter expert on AI ethics and governance for internal and external audiences. Qualifications:

Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Philosophy, Law, Public Policy, or Ethics, with a specialization in AI or technology ethics. Significant experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology governance, or related fields. Deep understanding of AI technologies, machine learning principles, and their societal implications. Familiarity with global AI regulations, ethical guidelines, and AI governance frameworks. Proven ability to develop and implement policy and governance structures. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving change in a complex organization. Ability to translate complex technical and ethical concepts into clear, actionable guidance. Experience in technology policy or risk management is highly desirable.
