Our client, a pioneering organization in AI research and development, is seeking an experienced AI Ethics & Governance Specialist to join their team. This critical role will focus on establishing and upholding ethical frameworks and governance structures for AI systems. You will work closely with AI researchers, engineers, legal counsel, and policy teams to ensure that AI technologies are developed and deployed responsibly and ethically. Responsibilities include developing AI ethics policies, conducting risk assessments, advising on regulatory compliance, and facilitating training programs on AI ethics. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AI technologies, ethical principles, and relevant regulatory landscapes. This position offers a hybrid work model, combining remote flexibility with in-office collaboration in Washington, D.C., US . A passion for ensuring AI benefits society is crucial.

Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive AI ethics policies, guidelines, and best practices. Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new and existing AI systems. Advise development teams on ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle, from design to deployment. Monitor emerging trends and regulatory developments in AI ethics and governance globally. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, AI Act). Develop and deliver training programs on AI ethics and responsible AI practices for various internal audiences. Facilitate cross-functional discussions and workshops on ethical AI challenges. Serve as a subject matter expert on AI ethics and governance for internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to the development of AI governance frameworks and accountability mechanisms. Investigate and address ethical concerns or potential harms related to AI systems. Promote a culture of ethical awareness and responsible innovation within the organization. Stay abreast of academic research and industry best practices in AI ethics. Support the development of transparent and explainable AI systems. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as AI Ethics, Philosophy of Technology, Computer Science with an ethics focus, Law, or Public Policy. Minimum of 5 years of experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology policy, or a related field. Strong understanding of AI technologies, machine learning concepts, and their societal implications. In-depth knowledge of ethical theories, principles, and frameworks. Familiarity with current and upcoming AI regulations and compliance requirements. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and ethical concepts clearly. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including technical, legal, and business stakeholders. Experience in developing policies, guidelines, or training programs. Strong research and report-writing capabilities. Experience with hybrid work environments.
