This pivotal role will involve shaping and implementing ethical frameworks, policies, and best practices to ensure our AI technologies are developed and used in a fair, transparent, and accountable manner. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of AI principles, ethical considerations, and regulatory landscapes, coupled with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain AI ethics policies, guidelines, and governance structures. Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for AI projects and products. Advise development teams on ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle, from design to deployment. Monitor emerging ethical challenges and regulatory changes in AI globally and translate them into actionable internal strategies. Collaborate with legal, compliance, engineering, and product teams to integrate ethical principles into AI systems and processes. Develop and deliver training programs on AI ethics and responsible AI practices to internal stakeholders. Engage with external stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and industry groups, to contribute to the broader discourse on AI ethics. Investigate and address ethical concerns or potential biases identified in AI systems. Contribute to the development of frameworks for AI explainability, fairness, and accountability. Stay current with academic research, industry best practices, and public discourse on AI ethics. Document governance processes, risk mitigation strategies, and ethical decision-making. Facilitate cross-functional workshops and discussions on AI ethics. Promote a culture of responsible innovation within the organization. Qualifications: Master's or PhD in a relevant field such as Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science (with AI/ML focus), Public Policy, or Sociology. Proven experience (3+ years) in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology policy, or a related field. Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, capabilities, and limitations. Familiarity with ethical frameworks, principles of fairness, accountability, transparency, and explainability in AI. Knowledge of relevant regulations and legal standards (e.g., GDPR, AI Act proposals). Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ethical and technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across different departments and levels. Experience in policy development, risk assessment, or program management is a plus. Familiarity with bias detection and mitigation techniques in AI systems. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated commitment to ethical principles and responsible technology. Must be based in or willing to relocate to the **Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US** area for a hybrid work arrangement.
