NLP/LLM Systems Engineer - NYC - $160k - $200k base

Harnham is seeking an experienced NLP / LLM Engineer to design and implement intelligent, agentic AI systems. This role focuses on building end-to-end solutions that leverage LLM/NLP to automate complex decision-making and operational workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy agentic AI systems using LLMs and NLP frameworks.
• Build internal automation tools with a path toward scalable, customer-facing products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional AI/ML teams to design intelligent automation and quality-control systems.
• Contribute to early-stage ML initiatives (e.g., classification, scoring) as part of onboarding.

Skills

• 4+ years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning (BSc/MSc in CS or related field preferred)
• Strong proficiency in Python and common data libraries (NumPy, Pandas)
• Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, Small Agent, or similar
• Proven ability to design and implement full-stack AI agent systems (beyond prompt-based applications)
• Familiarity with LLM deployment (API-based or self-hosted)
• Experience deploying open-source AI solutions (especially on AWS)
• Background in big data, security, or automation
• Active interest in emerging AI/ML research and tools
