Machine Learning Engineer, Foundation Models

A unified group, the Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CoE), harnesses this transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver more innovative medicines for patients worldwide.

At Roche's AI for Drug Discovery (AIDD) group, we are revolutionizing drug discovery with cutting-edge machine learning techniques. We seek talented engineers with a passion for building large-scale, distributed machine learning algorithms and systems that will transform the drug discovery process. Our Foundation Model team needs an exceptional Machine Learning Engineer to develop the backend of our internal agents platform and enable the next generation of AI/ML-powered drug discovery applications.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in leading and managing a team of engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence across the broader Roche organization. This role requires:

• Developing cutting-edge internal AI/ML-based applications for drug discovery and development.
• Deploying models in production environments, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Solving core backend challenges in ML and engineering, including designing and scaling data, training, and deployment pipelines.

Candidates should have a BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience, along with 2+ years of industry experience in machine learning. Strong programming skills in Python, using deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, and extensive experience with deep learning & LLMs are required.
