Senior Staff Software Engineer (Voice Agents)

This company is building a production grade AI voice agent platform that enables community

associations to operate with the efficiency of an experienced property manager, powered by

AI. The platform handles real time conversations across voice, SMS, and webchat, executes

complex multi step workflows, and integrates deeply into customer operations.

They are hiring Senior and Staff level Software Engineers with a strong backend mindset to

own and scale the core voice platform. This is a hands on role focused on real time systems,

low latency streaming, reliability, and observability in production environments.

You will work on systems that handle thousands of concurrent conversations, orchestrate

LLM driven agents, and integrate speech, tools, and data into a reliable and debuggable

platform.

The Mission

Build and scale a real time voice AI platform that is fast, reliable, and production ready.

Enable AI agents to reason, act, and communicate naturally while maintaining enterprise

grade correctness, uptime, and security.

What You’ll Work On

● Design, build, and operate backend services that power voice agent session

lifecycle, call routing, conversation state, and real time orchestration.

● Build low latency streaming pipelines integrating speech to text, text to speech, and

real time model endpoints while managing latency budgets, jitter, and backpressure.

● Implement agent runtimes including tool calling, sandboxed execution, retries,

idempotency, rate limiting, and per tenant quotas.

● Integrate with telephony and real time communication providers, calendars, CRMs,

support tools, webhooks, and event streams.

● Design the data platform for transcripts, audio metadata, agent actions, outcomes,

evaluations, and audit trails with strong support for replay and analysis.

● Establish observability across streaming and async systems including logging,

metrics, tracing, SLIs, and SLOs.

● Own reliability and incident response practices including automated degradation

strategies.

● Build security and privacy controls including secrets management, encryption, PII

redaction, data retention policies, and tenant isolation.

What We’re Looking For

● 6+ years of backend focused software engineering experience owning production

systems.

● Strong fundamentals in distributed systems including queues, workers, caching, and

API design.

● Experience building or operating low latency systems such as real time streaming,

WebSockets, RTC, or event driven architectures.

● Excellent data modeling skills with an understanding of versioning, contracts, and

idempotency.

● Comfortable working in a fast moving startup environment with high ownership and

accountability.

● Strong communication skills and a pragmatic, outcome oriented mindset.

Nice to Have

● Experience with voice and real time systems including WebRTC, telephony, SIP

concepts, or streaming audio.

● Experience with LLM powered agents including tool calling, planning and execution

loops, memory, and evaluation frameworks.

● Familiarity with platforms and tools such as Twilio, LiveKit, Vercel AI SDK,

LangChain, LangGraph, or Anthropic Agents SDK.

● Experience implementing observability for real time systems using OpenTelemetry or

similar tooling.

● Background in high growth SaaS or early stage startups.
