Senior AI Systems Engineer (AI Foundations and Large Language Models)

Team Introduction

The Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team is crucial to realizing Capital One's AI vision. We collaborate with teams across the organization to push the boundaries of AI science and engineering. Our goal is to create proprietary solutions that benefit millions of customers, ensuring we use AI responsibly and at scale.

In this role, you will

• Work alongside a diverse team including engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to develop AI-powered products that revolutionize our associates' work and enhance customer interactions.
• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain AI software components such as foundation model training, large language model inference, and model evaluation.
• Utilize a wide array of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies, including AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, and PyTorch.
• Innovate and implement state-of-the-art optimization techniques for large-scale AI systems, focusing on performance, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and low latency.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term strategy for foundational AI systems within Capital One.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, with at least 4 years of experience in AI/ML technologies; or a Master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
• 4+ years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc.).
• Experience in developing AI services and algorithms such as LLM Inference and Similarity Search.
• Proven track record of optimizing AI training and inference software for performance improvements.
• A strong interest in continuous learning about AI advancements and their applications in production environments.
