Team Description

The Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team is at the forefront of realizing our AI vision at Capital One. We collaborate closely with partners across the organization to advance state-of-the-art AI engineering and build proprietary solutions that add value for millions of customers. Our AI models and platforms empower teams to enhance products responsibly and at scale, ensuring significant impact.

In this role, you will

• Collaborate with diverse teams of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to develop AI-powered products that transform the customer experience.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI software components, including foundational model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, and more.
• Utilize a wide array of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies, such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, and PyTorch.
• Innovate and implement cutting-edge LLM optimization techniques to enhance the performance of large-scale AI systems.
• Contribute to Capital One's technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus 4+ years of experience in AI and ML technologies, or a Master's degree in relevant fields with 2+ years of experience.
• 4+ years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Proven experience in designing, developing, delivering, and supporting AI services.
• Experience with AI and ML algorithms, including LLM inference, similarity search, and guardrails.
• Expertise in optimizing training and inference software for hardware utilization, latency, and cost.
• Passion for AI research and the ability to apply novel techniques effectively in production environments.

Salary Information

Capital One is offering competitive salaries for this role based on location, experience, and qualifications. Salary ranges are as follows:

• Cambridge, MA: $193,400 - $220,700
• McLean, VA: $193,400 - $220,700
• New York, NY: $211,000 - $240,800
• San Francisco, CA: $211,000 - $240,800
• San Jose, CA: $211,000 - $240,800

This role also offers performance-based incentives, including cash bonuses and long-term incentives. Capital One provides a comprehensive benefits package that supports your overall well-being.
