BCforward is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Applied AI Engineer to join our dynamic team based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ

Job Title: Applied AI Engineer

Location: Englewood Cliffs, NJ (5-days Onsite)

Duration: 3 Months (Possibility for extension or conversion)

Job Description

• Build and deploy production-level LLM applications using FastAPI/Spring Boot backends and React/Next.js frontends.
• Design and optimize RAG pipelines using vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or OpenSearch.
• Develop reusable LLM components (prompt engineering, chains, embeddings, guardrails).
• Create and maintain REST/GraphQL APIs for AI-driven services.
• Deploy containerized applications on AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway).
• Evaluate AI frameworks/tools and provide build vs. buy recommendations.
• Implement caching, rate limiting, and safety guardrails for LLM APIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality AI features and prototypes.

Required Skills & Experience

Programming / Engineering

• 3–5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Python (FastAPI/Flask/Django), Java (Spring Boot), and JavaScript (React, Next.js, Node.js).
• Strong knowledge of API development and microservices architecture.

AI/ML Tools

• Hands-on experience building production RAG-based systems.
• Familiar with LangChain, LlamaIndex, and embedding models (OpenAI, Cohere, Sentence Transformers).
• Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, OpenSearch).

Cloud & DevOps

• Proficiency with AWS, including AWS Bedrock, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
• Experience deploying scalable and secure cloud-native services.

Productivity & Development Tools

• Experience with AI-powered IDEs (Cursor/Windsurf).
• GitHub Copilot or Amazon CodeWhisperer.
